After a hiatus of probably a couple of years, I have been listening to old time radio shows again. I was trying to figure out something to listen to when I need to spend time in bed. That’s pretty much a daily thing because of the physical condition I’m dealing with.
Sometimes I listen to nothing, sometimes I listen to classical music, sometimes I listen to discussions or presentations online, and in the past I’ve listened to lots and lots of old time radio. But it’s been a while and I got an urge the other day to listen to some again, so I started at the beginning of Gunsmoke. I forgot which show I had left off on…I believe it was episode one hundred and something. I figured starting from the beginning was a fine idea.
I listened to a few of those and then tried listening to one I hadn’t actually heard before, The Adventures of Frank Race. Frank Race had been an attorney before heading overseas as a member of the OSS during the war. After returning home, he becomes an adventurer of sorts, not exactly a private eye, but something pretty close. It’s been great fun thus far!
And I just learned about another show called The Chase. I’d like to give that a listen and I’d also like to listen to some episodes of Lights Out, another I’ve never checked out. There is so much old time radio! I put in earbuds, turn out the lights, and, after getting into bed, close my eyes and listen.
