I read this collection of poems by the Greek lyric poet Archilochus back in January of 2021 and wrote a very brief reaction:

I just finished reading Carmina Archilochi: the Fragments Of Archilochos, translated by Guy Davenport. Archilochos was a 7th Century Greek poet and soldier. This book was really fun to read and felt simultaneously contemporary and timeless. Some of them made me laugh and some were quite beautiful. Pretty much all that remains are fragments. Sometimes the fragmentary nature adds a mysterious quality to the poems.

While getting ready to post this, I learned that a genus of birds is named after Archilochus. This hummingbird genus consists of only two species: the ruby-throated hummingbird and the black-chinned hummingbird. I also just learned that hummingbirds are found only in the Americas! I had no idea they weren’t native elsewhere.
